“But, they’re just pictures of nothing..”
Staples Branch Manger, Plymouth.
July 27th 2016.
Seven damaged and vacant advertising frames at Plymouth Bretonside Bus Station provided an appropriate subject to confront and resolve a general feeling of malaise experienced during the summer of 2016.
Each abandoned frame was photographed in a bid to overcome and communicate a sense of despondency, with the subsequent installation filling a void with another void by re-framing the photographs of the frames in the frames.
The installation aestheticised the sense of emptiness and functioned as a symbolic representation of wider policymaking locally, nationally and globally.
The posters remained intact for eight days before being removed and replaced, once again, with nothing..
